I materiali raccolti in questa sezione appartengono a una fase precedente alla prima sintesi esplicita della MatriceMater, avvenuta nel 2010 con la sua condensazione in simbolo. Non si tratta tuttavia di un tempo preliminare in senso minore, né di un insieme di prove isolate ancora prive di direzione. Al contrario, è il campo in cui la ricerca ha iniziato a costruire i propri presupposti strutturali, attraversando studi, progetti, realizzazioni e nuclei già attivi, anche se non ancora ricondotti a una forma unitaria.
Questo arco temporale, compreso tra il 1997 e il 2010, coincide con una fase di formazione intensa e necessaria, collocata tra la conclusione degli studi all’Istituto d’Arte e gli anni trascorsi nella Facoltà di Architettura, fino all’esperienza nel laboratorio di matematica di Roma Tre. In questo passaggio, la ricerca ha assorbito informazioni strutturali, spaziali e logiche che non hanno agito come semplice contesto disciplinare, ma come materia viva di elaborazione.
Ciò che in seguito troverà nella MatriceMater una formulazione più netta era già presente qui in stato diffuso: la tensione tra struttura e trasformazione, la necessità di una legge interna, il rapporto tra sintesi formale e propagazione, tra costruzione geometrica e possibilità generativa. In questi anni il lavoro non possiede ancora il simbolo che più tardi ne renderà visibile il codice, ma ne prepara le condizioni di emergenza.
Per questo questa sezione non raccoglie un passato separato, né una fase semplicemente antecedente. Raccoglie piuttosto il terreno in cui il codice ha iniziato a cercarsi: uno spazio di formazione, attraversamento e accumulo, in cui differenti esperienze hanno contribuito a costruire la soglia da cui, nel 2010, la prima sintesi della MatriceMater ha potuto manifestarsi.
Osservati da oggi, questi materiali rendono visibile non soltanto un’origine, ma una necessità. Mostrano che la comparsa del simbolo non è stata un’apparizione improvvisa, bensì il risultato di una lunga elaborazione, in cui studio, intuizione, struttura e ricerca hanno progressivamente preparato il linguaggio alla propria emersione.
Prelude to the Code
The materials gathered in this section belong to a phase preceding the first explicit synthesis of MatriceMater, which took place in 2010 with its condensation into a symbol. This should not, however, be understood as a preliminary period in any minor sense, nor as a group of isolated attempts still lacking direction. On the contrary, it is the field in which the research began to construct its own structural premises, moving through studies, projects, realizations, and already active nuclei, even if not yet brought back to a unified form.
This span of time, between 1997 and 2010, coincides with an intense and necessary phase of formation, situated between the completion of studies at the Art Institute and the years spent in the Faculty of Architecture, extending to the experience within the mathematics laboratory at Roma Tre. In this passage, the research absorbed structural, spatial, and logical forms of knowledge that did not function merely as disciplinary background, but as living matter for elaboration.
What would later find a more defined formulation in MatriceMater was already present here in a diffuse state: the tension between structure and transformation, the necessity of an inner law, the relation between formal synthesis and propagation, between geometric construction and generative potential. In these years, the work did not yet possess the symbol that would later make its code visible, but it was already preparing the conditions for its emergence.
For this reason, this section does not gather a separate past, nor a phase that is simply antecedent. Rather, it gathers the ground in which the code first began to search for itself: a space of formation, crossing, and accumulation, in which different experiences contributed to building the threshold from which, in 2010, the first synthesis of MatriceMater could emerge.
Viewed from the present, these materials make visible not only an origin, but a necessity. They show that the appearance of the symbol was not a sudden event, but the outcome of a long process of elaboration, in which study, intuition, structure, and research gradually prepared the language for its own emergence.
